  • Table tennis
  • Badminton
  • Mini tennis
  • Indoor cricket
  • Indoor soccer
  • Indoor hockey
  • Basket ball

They can, if they wish, participate in more sedate pursuits and can try:

  • Snooker
  • Pool
  • Playstation games
  • Bop it
  • Darts
  • Board games
  • Bingo

The club runs a tuck shop that enables members to purchase soft drinks, sweets and crisps at reasonable prices. This is also where they pay their subscriptions, which is currently 30p per night. This area has a CD/ tape player installed providing music of all types on a regular basis.

There is a designated area for a selection of arts and crafts with many members making use of the drawing and painting equipment. There is also a television room, which is also used by members as a comfortable place to chat with their friends.

A lap top computer is the latest facility available to members. There is also access to the Internet and when everything is up and running, Contact with other clubs in our organisation.

The club is in the main self-funding and one of our priorities is fund raising. During the year we have stalls at the local fetes, Sell x-mas related items during December and take part in the country raffle. We also organised a duck race, when plastic ducks are floated down the local brook and also another sponsored event each year, e.g. a bike ride around Rutland water. In one week in September, we hold house-to-house collections in the Oadby area, which is another source of income.

During the summer months, a programme of activities is organised which starts with a water sports weekend in June at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham. There are other activity camps at the Bosworth Water Trust, 2 sessions of 3 days, and a weekend camp on the banks of the river Wye for canoeing and mountain bike riding. If necessary, qualified instructors control the individual activities, e.g. the canoeing sessions.

This programme also includes day trips to the Theme parks at Alton Towers and the American Adventure. There is also a day trip to Skegness and visits to the Nottingham Arena for ice-skating, Leicester Leys for swimming and to Megazone in the Leicester city Centre. Other venues are considered following request by members but are subject to sufficient interest being shown. Opportunities also arise to try one-off activities at the club such as air rifle shooting, the Gladiator bed and different fitness or skills events.

Some of the Events offered by clubs for young people include a 100 mile canoe test over 4 days in may, paint balling in Sherwood forest in February, Drama and mural competitions. There is also the opportunity of booking our residential centre in Scotland for a week.

Competitions start at the county level for 5-a-side soccer, table tennis, pool and snooker at different age groups, if teams or individual members are successful; they progress to midland regional events and then to the national finals. Members are also able to attend training courses organised at the local, regional and national level.
